New horse identification regulations came into force on January 1, 2016.
Commission Regulation EU 2015-262 requires that equine imported into Ireland on foreign passports must now also be registered with an appropriate PIO within Ireland.
Severe penalties apply for non compliance and is also a strict requirement if the animal is to go to slaughter.
In order to facilitate owners/keepers affected by the new requirement to register all imported horses passport details, LHI is offering a recording facility for imported horses at a discounted rate of €20 for this service. The relevant form can be downloaded from the LHI website (CLICK HERE to download application form).
