Change the registration details in an existing passport and / or update markings (EXCLUDING DATE OF BIRTH).
• Make this online prepayment when you are about to post in hardcopy application form and passport.
• You must also be the registered owner of the equine and this can be done at the same time.

Please note that under Irish and EU legislation, the date of birth recorded on an equine passport cannot be changed unless there is clear evidence of an error during initial registration. This is to protect the integrity of equine identification and traceability. If however you are the first registering keeper and believe an error occurred, please provide a written explanation from the original marking vet, supporting veterinary documentation and any original registration records.

• Return by recorded delivery is compulsory for destinations outside of Ireland and this will be added on as you progress through the checkout.
• Online payment is the only payment option available to residents outside of Ireland.

DESCRIPTION

Leisure Horse Ireland prides itself in consistently providing an excellent, efficient and cost-effective service to its owners and breeders.

The original details recorded in any passport were based on the details submitted by the first registering keeper and their vet. You should not accept a passport where there are clear errors. It should be the responsibility of the first registered keeper to have it corrected. However, it is possible to have the original registration details amended on an existing LHI issued passport by a new owner. To make any amendment requires new vet markings.

UK Residents:
Regrettably these days sending anything between UK and EU is not straight forward as there are now customs considerations. The reality is a Horse Passport in itself has no value, only to the equine it is associated with and the equine owner. Therefore, when sending the item you will need to complete a customs declaration (The CN 22 label is supplied by your post office or courier).

Ensure the customs declaration is completed as follows, otherwise the item will be delayed and rejected by customs and eventually returned to you:

• Tick that the package contains “DOCUMENTS”
• With the description “EQUINE IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS ONLY – NO COMMERCIAL VALUE”
• State that is has “ZERO” value and
• A customs TARIC code of 4911990000

It is also advisable to send it to us by registered post.

When you get the passport back, you must also have the passport over stamped by a UK agency of your choosing to have the details uploaded to the UK Central Equine Database (CED).

Other Considerations:
• Ensure you are submitting the declaration and passport to the correct agency.
• With an amendment, only the affected page(s) will be reproduced.
• This fully completed declaration form with the correct amount of cleared payment.

Return Delivery:
*Standard post return (Ireland only) is included in registration fees; however, risk of loss
is entirely borne by the applicant unless recorded return delivery is requested and paid
for by the applicant.

NOTES:
• To request any amendment, you must also be the registered owner of the equine.
• Provide an explanation of what exactly what needs to be corrected. Any amendment
request should have been initiated by the original registering keeper, if not,
clarifications may be sought from the original owner and their vet. This can result
in delays, particularly for an age amendment.
• Be aware any amendment will impact on the food chain status of the equine,
where it has not already been excluded.
• To make any change to the original registration details and passport of an equine,
legislation dictates this can only be confirmed by a qualified vet. Accordingly best
practice requires new vet markings be provided.

Operator / Owner and Equine details will be submitted to the Irish National Equine Database.
