Officially register your ownership of an LHI registered equine. A declaration form must be completed by the new owner and returned with the passport. The passport will be updated with the new owner details and returned again to the new owner.

• Make this online prepayment when you are about to post in hardcopy application form and passport.

• Return by recorded delivery is compulsory for destinations outside of Ireland and this will be added on as you progress through the checkout.

• Online payment is the only payment option available to residents outside of Ireland.

• Turnaround times will be affected by incorrectly completed paperwork, during holiday periods and times of increased demand.

• If selecting faster turnaround, please check availability with us, as the service will not always be available.

DESCRIPTION

Leisure Horse Ireland prides itself in consistently providing an excellent, efficient and cost-effective service to its owners and breeders.

Check with local authorities the rules and obligations that apply to you when you take possession of a horse imported from Ireland. It is our requirement that you register your ownership with us within 30 days of taking ownership.

Before completing the transaction and accepting the passport, ensure the transponder in the horse matches the passport and all other details in the passport correctly identify the horse. It is illegal to sell a horse on a passport with known errors. If you accept a passport with errors, you are obliged to have it corrected immediately and you will incur considerable costs.

The new owner completes an ownership declaration form and sends off with the passport to us for updating.

It is advisable to send it to us by registered post.

Where possible include a copy of:

the bill of sale/invoice to you,
or
copy of the veterinary examination certificate for the animal,
or
just a quick note detailing how you came by the animal and send the completed form, any supporting paperwork and the passport to us.

The previous owners signature / details are not required and it is a common situation that previous owners may not have registered their ownership. The important thing is that you are declaring and registering your ownership now.

Your ownership will be registered on the LHI database and on the Irish Dept of Agriculture Equine database. Some owners then also like to register chip numbers on 3rd party pet identification websites and you most likely need to register with your Country’s Central Equine Database.

• Ensure you are submitting the declaration and passport to the correct agency.
• The passport must accompany this form (you get the same passport back – updated).
• This fully completed declaration form with the correct amount of cleared payment.

Return Delivery:
Recorded return delivery is compulsory for destinations outside of Ireland.

Operator / Owner and Equine details will be submitted to the Irish National Equine Database.
